I recently split my lip open.

I was drunk and don't know what happened. Was I in a fight, did I just fall down? Anyway I'll have a scar for the rest of my life.

Haven't drank since and it is slowly healing. Might have a small scar but nothing bad.

.......but I don't miss the 'bad ole days' at all.

My ritual whenever I would wake up or come to was to go through a series of movements to see if I had damaged a leg, arm, my shoulders, or back. Next was gently touching my face to see if anything was broken or split. Usually I'd be able to tell what I had damaged immediately upon coming to.....but not always.

Nope. Don't miss those days AT ALL.

I'm sure I fell in my apartment, but I don't remember it. Not a good sign. Hopefully, no more "bad days", ever.

It was from a slip and fall on an icy sidewalk, but I was drunk. I landed on a metal stake sticking out of the ground, and I don't know how the outcome wasn't way worse. I'll wear this scar to the grave, aware of what might have been. If it had been just a little deeper, or an inch to one side or the other, I probably wouldn't be typing this now, I'd be pushing up daisies. I finally checked myself into rehab not long after.

Best of luck with your recovery. The first step is acknowledging that you have a problem, and when you find yourself physically injuring yourself then it's a pretty big clue that you just might have a problem.
