What's for Dinner, Thurs., Sept. 11, 2025

Time to raid the pantry for emergencies: plumbing disaster at my house. My plumber is here, tearing out ceilings. Stairwell wall, also. It's the worst possible place for a leak, the pipe for which had to have broken sometime in the middle of the night. I awoke to water dripping in the living room as I walked out of my bedroom.

Hey, it's what comes with living in a 175-year old house.

I have Paneer Butter Masala (creamy cottage cheese curry) that can easily be made for this evening. It's a prepared meal that I bought for such times. It has tomato, cottage cheese, onion, butter, cashews, cream, garlic, green chili, and coriander. A little fenugreek.

I also have an emergency store of water, so I can wash broccoli and carrots for a vegetable dish.

Kombucha: pineapple.

Dessert will be chocolate cream pie.

well it would for me. Sorry to hear you have plumbing issues, it's always a nightmare.

Well our company from Arkansas and Mississippi left today, and I feel it will be leftover baked ham, baked beans, and potato salad. Watermelon before bedtime.

Good Evening

Oh, no! Glad your plumber was available. What a mess, though. Best of luck, NJCher!

We went to our favorite fish market this afternoon so tonight will be yummy.

Appetizer
Fresh stuffed clams with butter, bread crumbs, black pepper, lemon, dill and a hint of vinegar.

Salad
The last of the Landlady’s freshly grown lettuce along with one of her last tomatoes. Topped with red onion rings, black olives and cucumbers with a sprinkling of creamy Italian dressing.

Entree
Grilled swordfish steaks marinated in olive oil with salt & pepper and garlic. Served with Portobello mushrooms grilled alongside the fish.

Dessert
Ripe Bosc pears soaked in brandy.

What a horrible mess to have to deal with first thing in the morning.

I just ate a handful of TJ’s potato chips and realized I should really have something proper instead… so I looked all through the fridge, freezer, and cupboards and decided nothing inspires me to make an effort. Chose a big banana instead, and will climb into bed with my book. At least tomorrow’s Friday!

to have a little bag of Wise butter popcorn. I'm waiting for the plumber to leave before I have dinner. He's working hard to make it so I can have water tonight. It requires doing a bypass around the leak. Repair won't be finished until tomorrow.

You crack me up, having a banana for dinner.

One time we had a poster write: "Avocado." That was it. Dinner.
