Extra Melty Fried Cheese Ball recipe! (Tirokroketes)
Author: Eli K. Giannopoulos
Prep Time: 10 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Total Time: 20 minutes +45 minutes (Ed.)
Yield: 14 cheese balls
Description
Get the party started with these amazing Greek-style fried cheese ball recipe!
Melty on the inside and with a wonderful golden brown crust on the outside!
Have a bite and let the juices flow in your mouth.
Ingredients
100g feta cheese, crumbled (3.5 ounces)
130g gouda, grated (4.5 ounces)
100g Mature Cheddar cheese, Regato or Graviera (3.5 ounces)
1 egg and 1 egg white
40g self raising flour (1.5 ounces)
a splash of milk
freshly ground pepper
all-purpose flour for dredging
vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
To prepare these delicious fried cheese ball recipe, add all the
ingredients into a medium bowl, season well with freshly ground
pepper and blend to combine.
Cover the bowl with some plastic wrap and place in the fridge
for 45 minutes. This will help the mixture for the cheese balls
to firm up a bit and make it easier to roll into balls.
Form the mixture into little cheese balls (this mixture is enough
for 14-15 cheese balls) and dredge in some flour shaking off any excess.
Fry the cheese balls in a non-sticking pan with plenty of oil,
until nicely colored. Place the fried cheese balls on some
kitchen paper to absorb the extra oil.
(Tips: Heat the oil until very hot and fry them in batches. If
the surface of the pan is overcrowded then the temperature
of the oil will decrease and your cheese balls will not be crispy
any more!)
Serve the cheese balls while still hot with a squeeze of a lemon. Enjoy!

Fried Manchego Cheese
Author: Julia
This is an easy recipe for fried manchego cheese tapas. Its a simple
Spanish appetizer that can be prepped ahead of time and fried right
before serving!
Prep Time 15 minutes mins
Cook Time 2 minutes mins
Total Time 17 minutes mins
Servings 5 (15 slices)
Ingredients
½ pound Manchego cheese (wedge-shaped, 225 grams)
½ cup all-purpose flour (70 grams)
1 cup breadcrumbs (150 grams, see note 1)
2 eggs (large)
2 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons dried oregano
¼ teaspoon black pepper
½ cup oil (for frying, see note 2)
Instructions
1 Cut off the hard rind and slice the cheese into about 15
thin-ish triangles (a little less than ¼ inch/about 0.5 centimeter each).
2 Get 3 bowls. Put flour in one. In the second one, beat the eggs with 1
tablespoon of water. In the last bowl, mix breadcrumbs with paprika,
oregano and black pepper (you can use a Ziploc bag for the breadcrumb
mixture as well).
3 Coat each manchego slice in flour, then dip into the egg mixture, coat in
breadcrumbs, and again dip into the egg mixture and coat in breadcrumbs.
Make sure the whole cheese is coated well. If not, it will ooze out during frying!
4 Place them onto a tray and put in the freezer for 30 minutes (or longer).
5 Heat the oil and fry them until golden brown (you might need less time so keep an eye on them).
6 Best enjoyed warm.
Notes
1 I used fine breadcrumbs. You can use any dry breadcrumbs you like.
2 When using a skillet/frying pan, you will only need about ½ cup to ¾
cup of oil for frying. You can also use a deep fryer and it should only
take a minute or so.

Crispy Cheddar Frico (Fried Cheese Crisps)
ingredients
1 1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
directions
Heat an 8-inch non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
Add 1/4 cup of the shredded Cheddar cheese, spreading
it out slightly so it's almost an even thickness.
Cook the cheese until it is lightly browned on the bottom.
Carefully turn the cheese crisp over and cook for another
15 seconds or until browned. Remove the cheese crisp to
paper toweling to cool and let some of the grease be
absorbed by the paper toweling. Wipe the skillet with a
paper towel and repeat with the remaining cheese.
Serve the fried cheese crisps immediately or store in
an airtight container at room temperature between
layers of waxed paper for up to 3 days.
recipe tips
Experiment with different types of cheeses for a variety
of flavors and textures in your crisps.
Make sure to cook the cheese until it's browned and crispy,
but be careful not to burn it.
Try adding a sprinkle of smoked paprika or garlic powder
for extra flavor in your cheese crisps.
For a twist, mix in some finely chopped herbs or spices
into the cheese before cooking.
If the cheese crisps aren't crisping up enough, try cooking
them on a lower heat for longer to prevent burning.
To add a little kick to your cheese crisps, try sprinkling some
red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper on top before cooking.

Queso Frito (Easy Fried Cheese)
Queso frito (Dominican fried cheese) is quite a treat and
an essential component of Los Tres Golpes, the traditional
Dominican breakfast meal. Find out how easy it is to fry
cheese and make this crispy fried cheese a special treat
we'd have every day of the week if we could.
Prep Time 5 minutes mins
Cook Time 10 minutes mins
Total Time 15 minutes mins
Ingredients
1 pound queso de freir, [0.23 kg]
⅓ cup oil for frying
Instructions
1. Prepare the cheese
Cut the cheese into 12 slices (2" x 3", ¼" thick, approx).
Pat dry the cheese with a paper towel to minimize splatters.
2. Fry
Heat the oil over medium-high heat[350 ºF or 175 ºC] in a
medium pan, and fry the cheese on one side until it turns
golden brown (fry one slice first to see if it fries well, see
notes if it doesn't).Turn and repeat. Do not add many slices
at the same time as the oil must remain very hot to prevent
the cheese from staying in the oil for too long.
Cook's Notes
If the first slice melts instead of frying into a golden color,
cover the remaining slices with corn starch and shake off the
excess. If it fries without problem, this step is not necessary
How long you fry the cheese depends entirely on your own taste.
Some prefer it a light golden color and lightly "melty", some prefer
it fried to crispiness and a darker color. Go with what you prefer.
