we had the Indigenous "three sisters": maize (corn), beans, and squash. I am glad that more people are paying attention.

My Dad used the 3 sisters and taught me. He also taught me to grow broccoli by potatoes because one is protective and beneficial to the other.

Monty Don used the 3 sisters on his show as a presentation for his viewers and examined how it worked and why corn, squash and beans were a benefit to each other.

He taught me a lot of stuff but the most important to me was…first, grow your soil.

Know your soil, find out the ph, what minerals are abundant, which are lacking. What is your soil composition, sandy, clay, it affects your drainage and nutrient uptake. What insect pests are present. ?????

All this will help get better results.

A home built on a weak foundation will not yield a strong home. Weak soil will not yield happy results. Then you blame yourself…too much water…not enough…crappy seeds…bad fertilizer…been there done that.

Before you throw that first seed in the ground or plant that starter know that it’s going to a good home so it can thrive.
