I over-wintered an alstroemeria!

It's a Princess Daniella and is only hardy to Zone 8 (I'm currently in Zone 6b/7a).

I bought it from the sale rack at the garden center and it thrived so well and bloomed so long that when fall came I couldn't just leave it to its fate. So, I brought it in and it lived on my kitchen table garden all winter.

It stayed lovely and green throughout (except for a bad patch when I must have skipped over it in watering one week-- but it bounced right back.)

Today it will go back outside. It may have even earned itself a place in the moving-with-us plant pile later this summer.

Overwintering is not easy. I have tried it with a few plants and it has never been a great success for me. They get too dry, the leaves drop, it never blooms as well if at all, etc.

You are lucky, and I understand the desire to keep some plants from just dying.
