(2,287 posts)For our resident expert
I've been growing small tomatoes for years and was always nervous about the larger ones, breaking branches etc. So I grow early girls and cherries mostly, I had a Cherokee Purple last year which produced a few larger fruit, yummy.
However, Hubby wants big tomatoes for sandwiches, so this year I planted an heirloom pineapple tomato. It's come in beautifully and now has clusters of flowers.
My question is, do I need to thin them? If so, when and how?
Thanks!

(61,282 posts)determined - by its particular genes, of which some control size. Not all flowers will set - as long as the plant is getting sufficient nutrients and water and sun, it will do great.
