Has something happened to Friskies canned cat food ? Our cats used to eat it all the time, but reject it now.

If it sits in their dish for a while, it dries out and darkens and looks thoroughly unappealing. It didn't used to do that.

I've been trying Mitten's Pickin's (from PetSuppliesPlus, made in Canada which has a good reputation re. pet food) without much success, and now Fancy Feast, which is a lot more expensive and has only a few flavors to choose from, and they don't seem all that wild about it either, though they do eat a little of that.

Both cats are ~12 years old, brother and sister, and started doing this about the same time. I was feeding them only Friskies, and Redford's Naturals dry food when this started.

That's what I'm afraid of. Unless some here at DU is in "the industry", I'm not sure how I could find out. nt eppur_se_muova 12 hrs ago #2

But she has a history of passionately loving a wet food, and then turning against it.

That you have two cats acting in unison... well, maybe the formula has changed?

and the AI said that it was reformulated in spring of this year to eliminate artificial dyes and preservatives. Apparently your cats are not the only finicky eaters as reports are arriving that are other cats are turning up their noses.

Seeing that it takes a few months for products to make it through the shipping cycle, the timing would be about right for them to get the new Friskies mix.

But I didn't think about the effect that might have on shipping cans in hot weather. Maybe the stuff is going bad on its way to the store because of the Summer weather. I hope the mfgr is looking into that.

Thanks for that.
