250 Years Ago This Month: war was starting

American Revolutionary War, specifically

April 18, 1775: Paul Revere's Midnight Ride

April 19, 1775: Battles of Lexington and Concord

April 19, 1775: The 11-month Siege of Boston begins

April 20, 1775: Gunpowder Incident, Virginia

When I was a kid, CBS had a running short feature called "A Bicentennial Minute" which always began, "Two hundred years ago today, ..." I was hoping they'd revive that this year but maybe spelling Semiquincentennial is too much.

edited to add: Ken Burns (Sarah Botstein, David Schmidt)'s six-part series "The American Revolution" is coming to PBS November 16, 2025
