The Dueling Definitions of America and Americans

I was listening to the Clay Cane show this afternoon on Sirius XM and he had Richard Fowler on. Fowler is a Professor of Journalism at Georgetown U and a Fox News Contributor. If you’ve read my posts the past few months – you’ll see where I’ve continuously hammered the idea that this is a culture divide and war. These two Black American men are aligned with my thought process, so I thought I would share some takeaways for those in the AfAm Group who don't have access to Sirius.

Top of the show, they spoke of how the budget bill impacts different communities and how the intent is to purposely skyrocket the deficit, give more to the military, and then ultimately cut our Social Safety net. “Let’s just privatize it since NOW its not working for you anyway”.

The mage Repubs don’t care about skyrocketing the deficit. They don't and the if the maga Pub voter cared they would not have voted for Trump. Many also think they are protected by their income level or community. But this does bad things across the board for everyone who does not make a million dollars a year.

People (white) who say:

Well I live in a good school district.

However, in the bill there is a 100% tax write off for private education K-12. That money has to come out from somewhere. Example, Title 1 or Special Education funding. In a rich suburban community, you would be looking at a 5 to 10% cut in your school district’s share from Fed Gov. Rural or Urban? 15 to 20%. That impacts teachers, school nurses, computer labs.

People knew this and they still voted for Project 2025 and Agenda 47 in November 2024.

That’s why there is a large number of Black American voices who are screaming at the top of our lungs – the Economy and Policies regarding daily life mean NOTHING to the maga Repub voters. To the “I don’t care crowd” same thing . . . but it doesn’t ‘impact them’ so . . .

We (America) were warned that they were going to cut Medicaid Social Security.
We were warned the price of eggs would not go down.
We were warned that we would not have more money in our pocket.
We were warned that the tax bill was going to harm the middle class.

Please spare Black folks the: “It’s the Economy and Economic Policies Stupid” nonsense.

77 Million Americans did NOT care about their wallets. They are focused on ‘The Other’. They are focused on DEI. The maga Repub pols eff up the economy – and these people keep putting them back in office.

It’s not dollars and cents. It’s NOT policies that speak to these people. There are too many Americans who REFUSE to hold the maga Repub party accountable. Both Harris and Clinton had robust economic plans. I’m over this ‘Harris was a generalist’. No she fucking wasn’t. She had detailed economic ideas that would have helped EVERYONE – even the farthest left non-Democratic Party voters who always turn their noses up at the Democratic Party and NEVER hold the mag Pubs accountable. Krasnov inherited a strong economy and he’s ruined it within 5 months. And he TOLD people how we was going to destroy it.

Folks, we can still talk about the economy – but the maga Pub are winning on cultural issues.
.
Fowler spoke eloquently to the concept of dueling cultures in America – and clearly defines who is in ‘Their America’ and who is not.

The Democratic Party is very responsive – we keep responding to whatever the maga Pubs throw out. The past few decades we’ve seen the maga Pubs narrow down what THEIR definition of America and Americans is – the whole return to the 1950’s. They push the family home, white picket fence, dad goes to work, Stepford wife – and that’s all very very white in the 1950’s.

Why do big Businesses go into places like Chicago and Northern Virginia? High quality healthcare systems. Public schools are stellar -and that’s how you get people to buy homes in your community.

The Democratic Party needs to do the work of Defining what OUR Definition of America is. They (maga Pubs) say that there is something wrong with OUR America. Ex: Krasnov saying that Baltimore is infested with rats and rodents (read between the lines), and that we need to clean up the streets of Washington D.C. Fowler is a resident of D.C. he runs in our parks – and those are some of the best in our country. You see black folks looking out for each other in these communities. In spite of red lining, disinvestment, defunding of their schools and yet still they do the work to create virtuous communities.

*Who is in the Democratic Party’s America?
*Why are they in Our America?
*Why does Medicaid matter in Our America?
*Why do public schools matter in Our America?
*Why does the Pell Grant matter in our America? HBCU students rely heavily on these Grants.

One big shitty bill from Krasnov is Obamacare Repeal 2.0, But – they are going to do it really sneaky. And the poor, working poor, and middle class are going to fall through the cracks.

But all that matters to the maga Repub voters are Transgender human beings, furries, DEI, stranger's uterus', and what other folks do in the bedroom.

They think they are safe - they are not. And we need to let them FAIL.
