snip-PFC St. Clair Gibson, my great uncle, was a Buffalo Soldier of the 371st Infantry Regiment, 92nd Infantry Division. He went missing near Serravezza, Italy, on Nov. 11, 1944. After 81 years, the DPAA identified him on May 7, 2025. He was awarded nine medals, including the Silver Star. Last week my father (82) and I had the official identification briefing. I’m so proud of my dad for pushing for this all these years, and grateful our family finally has closure.

I wonder why he got to be a Buffalo Soldier, was it chance, family member who was a Buffalo Soldier, friends, luck of the draw?

7. The history of Buffalo Soldiers is very interesting..Native Americans gave them that name

Because they were black soldiers in the army during the civil war 1866.. because of their skin color and curly hair, the American Indians admired their fighting style and tenacity. Buffalo Soldiers fought in the Spanish American War..they have quite a legacy. PBS had a documentary about them during Black History Month
