RE: Harry Potter

I have not read a one and would like to try. Should I like them, that would keep me busy. Is it advisable to read them in order or doesn't it matter? Thanks!

They are not independent of each other as each book builds on the book that came before.

These books are a magical experience!

well, not screaming... my daughters made me read them and they were enjoyable enough for youth fiction ... plus you have the movies?

my tastes fall elsewhere .. but these days, it's all good

The first time I tried to read the first in the series, I stalled out because the aunt and uncle were so mean to Harry. I saw the movie, and was then able to read the book.

We even went to midnight book releases. My cool factor in those days was HIGH! We always had something to talk about too.

Best in order!

I read the first book, then my husband read it but our daughter thought it was too kid oriented for her...

then we finally got her to read it and after that it was a three way fight to be the first one to read the next book in the series.

But be patient with the first book. It takes a while to get past Harry's horrible adoptive family and into the good stuff.

I wouldn't mind spending some time at Hogwart's either. I've finished the first one; Harry, take me away!
Such fun-thank you all for the encouragement. I'm glad I jumped in, and now I have 6 more to order and read. It's a good thing!
