a taste of the apple

a taste of the apple

as soon as i tasted the apple i knew i wanted more
clean clear wonderfully tart bearing a scent of life
my tongue probed to rappel to the center the core
the limbs softly spread apart the fruit and the knife
as juices raced down my chin as the feathers tickle
deeper into the sacred cleft with both grace and sin
i sought to breathe it all in but as time turned fickle
no matter the talent or deft touch all was at an end
as my lips left the apple the scent was all remaining
the craving filled every sense with unimagined lust
my body strove to appeal a semblance of explaining
yet the mind was lost dense and ground into a dust
as time and separation grew i rationalized the loss
as a certainty i never knew vandalized my thoughts

jeg.
