lost in reality
i have found myself alone and lost in reality
to awaken in the dead of night in innocence
the ends of dreams drone losing their vitality
aware of a true dread of life’s impermanence
opening the eyes in dark gradual light comes
all of which was erased now sharply in focus
so once more to embark to seek out the sums
discovering that replaced devoured by locusts
as old hearts try to sing of what reality means
sinking darker and deeper in the despondence
fear what a new brings whispers and screams
as the lives grow cheaper in a preponderance
of fears of life and death and a final reckoning
hesitant to hold a breath a future is beckoning
