i awaken in the deep of night lie in darkness and listen
while breathing in the thoughts appear settle and resolve
in an amazing type of sight clarity fills as surfaces glisten
ways of victory in battles fought sadly suddenly dissolve
i can’t sleep the in deep of night reality replacing dreams
while breathing out gasps bought as the hesitation sears
all covered in sweat and fright chase unrequited schemes
freezing of the cold and the hot losing count of the tears
i drift in or out the deep of night unknown alive or dead
while not breathing still caught in the mazes of all fears
twisted into a being of the blight eating scraps of dread
inhaling of the good air and exhaling of the evil despair
