Looking for a short story...

Had to be in an anthology around the early '80's or so. I don't think Dangerous Visions 2. It was a library loan.
I made a big drawing based on it.

Husband, and wife. Husband is a high ranking ?US Military official, she is a sculptor. Seriously escalating world tensions; whether US v Soviet Union is "spelled out" I don't remember.

Suddenly or so visual artists from around the world are internally compelled to either start and finish a new project, or complete a current project.

Somehow we find out that if the artists can complete their projects "in time";
the next World War will averted!

My drawing was as followed.
Main part - the couple is arguing (I don't remember why). Lower left corner we see a sculptor (her?) working on a project. Lower right-hand corner we see the husband in the War Room w others.

If anyone has an inkling about this please let me know. TIA!

The group is really good at identification. I can do it a little later this evening, I'm watching something at the moment with the husband.

You might not even have to go there if you can access their databases via the library website. This Ebsco Short Story index is one I’ve used via my library. You can’t use the index at this link but you can use it from your library.

It’s good to look around on their website or even to call the reference librarian.
