Peacock and regional baseball streaming:

I just subscribed to Peacock to stream the Winter Olympics and noticed there was an add on to watch local/regional baseball on the Comcast sports channel. In my case, that would be Giants baseball (when it resumes). About $18.00 a month, plus the Peacock fee. That's better than YouTubeTV at $83.00 a month. And better than MLB TV because it's not a yearly subscription. I can pick and choose which months to subscribe -- the entire season or just the months with the best match-ups.

Is this new? Anybody here done anything like this in past seasons?

1. Similar to what Comcast now offers in Colorado for the Rockies

Same price to get the Rockies internet stream (not Peacock). I used to get the games for no extra charge. And I refuse to pay extra for a service that takes a long time to start and change channels. Also the Rockies suck and the owners don't care. So neither do I!

I can't believe that I didn't go into a rant about this last year. Now it is creeping into all markets. Must be a Republican plot!

2. I forgot MLB TV isn't an option -- local teams are blacked out.

So for the SF Giants it's streaming from Comcast or free AM radio. And it'll probably remain free AM radio unless the Giants really are as good this year as they look on paper.

6. I think the Rockies were not blacked out on MLB if...

they were the game of the day or something. That rarely happened. With the Dodgers winning twice and the new rules I'm not interested in ML Baseball anymore.

3. We had to have two separate packages to watch the Tigers last year.

We have had the MLB package for years. It's on regular cable and easy to get to.

But we can't watch it out of home even though we can stream a lot on Xfinity. Some things are restricted. So we have to subscribe to a second service, the MLB App, I guess it is, to watch the Tigers if we aren't at home (we live in Seattle).

I don't mind using a stream if I am on my phone but I hate having to go to a streaming service on my normal TV. Peacock takes forever to load, and if you click away from the game, you have to go back into Peacock and start over. It doesn't even remember what game you were on.

it makes a difference.

Following arbitration, do you think Detroit will keep Skubal for the entire season or trade him? It's a good, young team, and they could make the playoffs again. Love it when Cleveland and Detroit play.

5. I think it depends on this year, and on his run support.

I got so frustrated watching him only give up one run and then lose or get a no decision. But I think if we have a good consistent year and maybe even get into the WS, then he may be a keeper for a few years. They are about to re-name the stadium (ugh) and I think it might be good to keep the product on the field consistent. (Not that I love the name Comerica, but it's better than First Third, which sounds like math class).
