Now we know. Cardinals to release QB Kyler Murray

The elephant in the room has calmly walked out. The Arizona Cardinals announced that they plan on an outright release of quarterback Kyler Murray, unless a trade is finalized before then, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The release is something Murray’s camp has wanted, which will allow him to find his own new team and work out a deal to play somewhere else, either as the starter or as an experienced backup.

(snip)

Murray’s win-loss record was 38-48-1. He started one playoff game and lost (2021).

Despite his impending release, Murray should have a strong market. Several teams already come to mind, including the Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and the Minnesota Vikings. The Indianapolis Colts were thought to be a destination, but word is, they are going to ride the Daniel Jones train despite his injury.

I wish him luck wherever he goes. I don't feel he was set up to succeed under the Gannon era but he did have some good years with Kingsbury when he had more talent around him. Hope he goes to the Vikings as they have a lot of talent outside of the QB position.

His first couple of years were awesome, but through no fault of his own, he is simply too small to be a reliable franchise quarterback. He’s been riddled with injuries, and will continue to be for remainder of his career. His body simply will not hold up.

with career earnings of close to $170 million, the guy ought to be set for life.
