I was going to wait till Trump was a distant memory, but I've been asked to go watch the Rugby League in Las Vegas in February.https://www.nrl.com/rugby-league-in-las-vegas-2027/
We're going to fly to LA, look at things, drive on that coast road, go to San Fransisco, look at more things, drive to Las Vegas, watch the football, do the grand canyon and death valley, then go home. I think we've got around 3 weeks out aside for it.
Any suggestions on things to do on those places? I've never been to the US before and all I really want to do is go up a really steep street in San Francisco and visit that suburb that's falling into the sea but can't remember what city that's in.

(134,853 posts)Highway 1). The suburb that is sinking is Rancho Palos Verde. Monterey/Carmel/Big Sur are must-sees! San Francisco is amazing. Las Vegas is a world unto itself. Grand Canyon and Mojave. .breathtaking. I wish you and your friends a wonderful trip.

(36,443 posts)I'm going with my brother and sister-in-law, who've both been to the US before. When I was asked what I wanted to do I said 'drive!' and my brother's trying to talk me out of it, saying it's really hard to get used to driving on the other side of the road. I don't want to drive in big cities. I was thinking more on the highway, anyway.
Thanks for the tips and I'll post photos from my trip to bore everyone who's probably seen those sights a million times before.

(134,853 posts)forward to your pics. I miss California very much, so they will make you happy. One thing I will point out is that CA is huge, as are Nevada and Arizona. You will be doing a LOT of driving! LA to SF is about 600 miles, as is SF to Las Vegas. And it will be winter, which can mean some truly scary road conditions. Always fun! Of course, you could be there during great weather, which is lovely. You will see some truly incredible scenery!

(56,955 posts)especially North rim (which isn't as visited anyway) plus is less crowded. distances in the western US are probably similar to what you may be used to. big spaces, good long drives. (I love them too)
