1. He talks of seriously deceived, anti-biblical self centered christian nationalists, not Jesus Christians.BIG difference.

52% of Democrats identify as Christian. So this post is also politically divisive. Don't you know or care about that fact?

John Fugelsang can eat this guy for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
He'll tell you that Democrats, while not perfect, still have party policies on healthcare, social safety nets, immigration, gun safety, women's equality, gay rights, and antiracism that are LIGHT YEARS CLOSER to the teachings of Jesus than any trump-era republican fundamentalists, who are the brazen, junk-wagging opposite of Jesus's actual words.

The ONLY thing wrong with religions across the world are its fundamentalists.

Spiritual people use religion to become better people. Fundamentalists use religion to pretend they're better than other people. Human hate has been around a lot longer than religion. Religion didn't create hate. Hate found voice inside religion.
It's the intolerance of right wing fundamentalist christians that's driving young people away from religion, and not because the young are controlled by Satan, though the fundamentalists may very well be.

The primary driver of most global conflict, oppression of women, suppression of science, persecution of gay people, and abuse of power is not religion. It is the extreme fundamentalist wings of all the world's religions that enact these harmful dramas for the rest of humanity. The overwhelming majority of progressive, moderate, and even conservative Christians, Jews, and Muslims are getting along just fine, right now, in all corners of the earth-- just trying to make their way through life and leave a better world for their kids.

But then, people of different backgrounds working together, and building families, and businesses, and communities in a drama free way doesn't attract much media attention. But the violent lunatics and bigots are profitable to get the eyeballs and clicks, and so they get the coverage.

We (and you, LO4E) can and should do better on DU than to spread divisive opinions and sweeping judgements about our people.

2. Did you actually watch the whole video?

The video is a critique of RW Christian nationalism. He even mentions that LW Christians aren’t the same.

Did you not see the part on liberation Christianity for instance and how it is overall a force for good that we should work with or how replacing the current hierarchy with one with anti-Christians at the top would be just as bad and that we should oppose hierarchies in general.

This forum hasn’t changed one iota from when I was a regular here. Why did I hope otherwise?

3. Not at first. I was reacting to the headline "Cruelty is Godly." And to the forum called "Religion" in general. But yes

I heard what he said. And I understand now, what you're saying...

If his audience isn't Christian but is non-believers, he made his case against RW christian nationalism well. Though I gotta say, the headline appears to smear Christianity in general.

I'll pay closer attention to these kinds of videos in the future.

I'm sorry to offend, and was taking another more general tack re Democrats who are Christian.

4. Titles for videos are often sensationalized

There are many reasons for this. From needing to find a way to fight an algorithm that would hide it otherwise to trying to get the people the otherwise would ignore it to watch it and challenge their biases.

There is a reason that the cliché says “Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover.”

Thank you for watching it and giving it a chance.

as long as they are in the heading script - and of course in the service of drawing eyes, selling, and posting numbers ...

And here we use to make jokes about the "just get em through the door" salesman ... Sigh. Times ...
