I made the mistake of being overly friendly with a few people at the gym. Now when I see them they want to make small talk so I leave my earbuds in even if my music is turned off so I can pretend I don't hear them.

I mistakenly asked some questions to some religious fanatics, who appeared at my door.
Over a decade later, I keep coming across them, on the subway, while taking out my garbage, even at the door of my new apartment.
