DU Community Help
Related: About this forumSuggestion: I think it's a bad idea to post every new post to the same forum in the on the home page.
For instance we now have, as of this writing, 6 references to "Liberal You Tubers" crowding out all other new posts in each forum.
In this respect, DU3 was better.
In some forums we have people serially posting seven or eight posts in 15 minutes, often just links to news feeds like AP or Reuters.
It obscures other forums that may be of interest to people who might be interested in say, Public Transportation, in the "Issues" forums from seeing what's new because "Liberal You Tubers" has swamped the page.
"Culture" forums are often swamped with "Music Appreciation" obscuring everything else.
My two cents, for what it's worth.

(11,836 posts)they are worthless because the subject headings are so deeply truncated.

I wish I had a lot of spare time to play "guess what this post is about", but I don't. Or to click on every one that might possibly be interesting.
This was a problem in DU3, but the truncations were not quite this bad. Still I didn't waste my time.

(22,835 posts)Previously, forums could not be repeated in those sections. We'll fix this, but it's a lower priority at the moment.

(22,835 posts)I'll respond here (I'd prefer to keep that other thread about tips rather than general Q&A). The answer is... again, this is something that we will do, but it's still a lower priority.
To explain (because I don't want you to think I'm blowing you off), we've spent the last month reviewing the new software and how it's working for everyone. I'm pleased that a lot of people are enjoying it, but clearly we still have some work to do. The homepage update was a good start, but we're also reviewing the navigation system, and we should have some significant improvements coming soon. We'll be pausing development next week for the holidays, but after the holidays we'll be able to release the new updates.
After those are done, I'm hopeful that we'll be able to focus on some of these other quality-of-life items.
