(8,597 posts)It just did it again on this OP.
I'm using Firefox on Windows 10 on a laptop, and I'm in the UK.
It's a right pain.

(8,597 posts)I don't know if there's anything DU's admin can do about it, but it's making the site all but unusable at the moment.
It's not happening on any other sites I've visited that are hosted in the US.

(22,835 posts)The cookie banner is a regulatory thing that we have to run for users in Europe and the UK. The current cookie banner is displayed via my ad provider. I've been discussing this with them today and they report that they cannot duplicate the issue (of course that doesn't mean it's not happening).
They did say that in the past this has been sometimes known to occur for people running ad blockers. If you're running an ad blocker while you're on DU, try disabling it briefly and see if the banner goes away. I believe the people experiencing this are currently Star Members, so even if you disable your ad blocker while on DU you shouldn't see ads anyway.
If you try this, please let me know what happens. If you don't have an ad blocker running while on DU but are still experiencing this, please let me know.

(8,597 posts)I deleted all cookies to do with Democratic Underground, then logged back in, and it's working fine now
For future reference, I'm running Ghostery. DU was already a trusted site. I tried pausing it altogether, and I still had the problem.
I hadn't changed anything in the configuration of my system when this started happening - it just began yesterday and it had been doing it ever since until I deleted cookies.
The rest of my system:
Laptop
Windows 10, fully updated
Firefox, fully updated - it identifies itself as 120.0 (64-bit)
Ghostery 8.11.1
