I just received my SS payment-- it was over $10k and I don't know why
When I checked my account, it said it was "a one time payment"
Anyone else get this??

(24,284 posts)If a beneficiary is due additional benefits as a result of the Act, they will receive a one-time payment, deposited into the bank account SSA

(5,149 posts)Can you access any of your information at the govt login? Are you close enough to an office to ask about it in person?

(210 posts)I had been watching Biden sign it before he left office last year. I was notified that I was eligible and it was automatic.

(5,149 posts)I wasnt. It wasnt especially hard to apply, although it took time, like 2 months, and I did get a retroactive payment. The phone appointment and conversation I had, which took 6 weeks to get, was very helpful.

(210 posts)Lost way more $$ from over the six years than the lump sum they gave me (for just the one year.) Im not complaining though - my SS has increased by about half of what I was receiving.

I need to wait to get an explanation from SS-- they'll send me a letter in the mail. Evidently the last person to sign off on this hasn't yet.
Thanks, all-- I'll update this post once I receive the letter.

(5,149 posts)I was pleasantly surprised at the process. I had very little hope and wasnt counting on anything, but applied as a test, really. The system was still holding as of May.
