Related: About this forumWell, I yanked out another male plant
This one was huge. The reason didn't know for sure it was male was the seed pods were on a lower branch, hidden by the foliage of the other plants next to it. At this rate, I'll be lucky if I have three female plants. It's not easy determining if some of these are males or not.

(26,150 posts)With the warning that they weren't feminized. I'm learning a valuable lesson. Next year if I decide to grow pot, I'll buy hybridized seeds.

(8,217 posts)Plants from seed are generally bigger and stronger, but it could be a cost consideration depending on the size of your grow; about half of my mothers are from seed, but all of them are equally healthy and vigorous. Also, there is a robust market for quality clones here, so it's definitely worthwhile for me to do it this way.
Best of luck with your grow!

Fun to see all the choices and so many now selling super high THC seeds - 30 to 33%
If you grow from unfeminized seeds, when plant is over a foot tall, cut the hrs of light for about a week putting it in a dark closet so it only gets 10 hrs or less of light. Do this till it sexes itself and then put females under long light to revert back to grow. This is how a commercial grow near my place does it. It avoids growing a huge plant only to find out its male.
Are well worth the ten bucks a seed. Even if I wasted five seeds that I couldn't sprout. Sorry for your problems I don't have time to experiment. Other things I enjoy doing much more.

(10,270 posts)Soak seed in glass of water for 12 to 24 hrs. Half the time it will sprout in water. Then place between damp paper towels in a not tightly closed container in sunny spot. Seeds should open in a day and then carefully pot seedling. Start seedlings in tiny pots with really good drainage and seedling starting soil.

(10,270 posts)So watch videos on sprouting seeds so you dont screw up. I paid $22 a seed for Black Apple Hitchcock. Definitely worth it when you see results.
Hint from a really good grower - chicken manure is your best friend.

(18,607 posts)...I have jars of bag seed but i wanted to try fem seeds..will not spend the money on that again. That was 50$ even at half price! I could have bought an oz for that.
