Protesters Gather Outside O'Rourke Town Hall
While presidential candidate Beto O' Rourke was getting cheers inside Lavery Brewery from supporters, he was receiving jeers outside from people against his platform.
Pro-gun and anti-abortion advocates held a protest outside the bar on W. 12th St. during his campaign visit to Erie. Protestors held signs and flags to show their displeasure with the democratic candidate.
"Protesting isn't one of my favorite things, but the extremism that we're seeing this time around in the elections can't go unanswered,"executive director of People for Life, Tim Broderick said.
There was police presence between the Beto supporters and the protestors, but there were never any serious moments of tension. Protestors also referenced the candidate's recent comments on taking away assault weapons. Some saying his views do not align with what's best for the country.
