"Death Traps": U.S.-Israeli Gaza Aid Scheme Paused After 100+ Killed While Waiting for Food

Officials in Gaza say over 100 Palestinians have been killed during recent Israeli attacks on people waiting at aid sites. An additional 500 are wounded. Following the series of deadly attacks, the shadowy U.S.-Israeli humanitarian aid operation is shutting down for a day, and Israel's military warned Palestinians that roads leading to the aid distribution centers will be considered "combat zones." The United Nations has called for a prompt and impartial investigation into each of the attacks. The U.S.-Israeli aid system is "more about the humiliation and the control of the people" than feeding Palestinians, says Mahmoud Alsaqqa, Oxfam's food security and livelihoods coordinator in Gaza, who joins us from Gaza City.

1. Declaring those roads "combat zones" may lead to more killing.

People have to be informed not to attempt the trip, ample warning given before they get to the roads, and laws of war have to be followed. Lots of cause for worry.

5. I had not clued in that this is only food aid. The real humanitarians supplied clean water, medicine, necessities etc

Without clean water, disease is spreading. And the hardships of life without necessities for daily living do not bear thinking about. Yes, stripping away all dignity is what this is about, as well as punishment and "encouragement" to leave their homeland.

The Guardian I think has done an analysis on the paucity of the food aid being let in and concluded that it is enough to feed only 13% of the population - assuming that everyone needs 3 meals a day because Palestinians are people too. There is also the fact that the aid packages are poor in nutrition and lack the necessary nutrients for child development especially.

The deprivation of children of basic nutrition and clean water, the hundreds of skipped meals over 19-months is going to stunt their growth permanently. Destroying the future of Palestinians, their children, is also what this is about.

Anyone who still insists this is not genocide and ethnic cleansing is either out of their minds from decades of indoctrination and propaganda or is complicit as far as I'm concerned.

desperate, hungry people will be considered "combat zones." A scheme that makes those poor people targets for extermination.
