Let's talk about Hegseth going after Kelly a second time.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Hegseth going after Kelly a second time.

After the less than great showing recently at the appeals court, it looks like Hegseth wants to take another shot at Kelly and for the most bizarre of reasons. So, we'll talk about that, then we'll dive into a question about why some are more mad at Hegseth than Kelly.

Kelly was talking to CBS News and said, "We've expended a lot of munitions and that means the American people are less safe whether it's a conflict in the Western Pacific with China or somewhere else in the world, the munitions are depleted." I know that sounds like something you've heard on the channel over the last couple of months, but it was Senator Kelly.

Well, Hegseth shared a post about what Kelly had said and added, "Captain Mark Kelly strikes again. Now he's babbling on TV falsely and dumbly about a classified Pentagon briefing he received. Did he violate his oath again? Department of War Legal Council will review.

To which Kelly responded with a video of Hegseth discussing the same thing in public and said, "We had this conversation in a public hearing a week ago, and you said it would take years to replenish some of these stockpiles. That's not classified. It's a quote from you. This war is coming at a serious cost and you and the president still haven't explained to the American people what the goal is.

Okay, now on to a question and it gets into something interesting.

"Why is my dad who really drank the MAGA Kool-Aid more mad at Hegseth than he is Kelly about disclosing we're low on ammo? It makes no sense. Something about if Kelly was lying, you can't investigate and by investigating, it's true.

You don't say, "But I guess your dad had a real clearance at one point in his life." Here's a weird little quirk about classified material. When you investigate somebody for disclosing something, most times you're confirming the information is valid.

Your dad said, "If Kelly was lying, you can't investigate." If Kelly made up the munition shortage, then it can't be classified because it's a fabrication. You're not going to classify something Kelly made up. Therefore, there's nothing to investigate.

Once Hegseth posted that he was ordering DoD to review it, he basically announced that we're low on munitions to the world, which really isn't a secret. As I said at the beginning, we've talked about this on the channel. They're burning through this stuff at a ridiculous rate. There aren't a lot of analysts who would say the US is where it needs to be in regards to munition stores. That's purely on open-source stuff and not even including Hegseth recently admitting it in a hearing.

If Hegseth had said nothing, it would have been nothing. Everybody knew the US was blowing through supplies. But his response gave adversarial nations all over the world a reason to believe that the US is actually in worse shape than most thought.

Once again, Hegseth demonstrated that he doesn't really understand some of the finer points of the job. Your dad certainly has a better grasp on this particular topic.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
