Secret weapon to defeat Trump surges into spotlight - Another Day - Brian Tyler Cohen

ANOTHER DAY: Secret weapon to DEFEAT Trump surges into spotlight

america's top law firms universities and
media companies capitulate to Trump
because standing up for what's right is
such a pain in the ass This is just
another
day Did you ever have a bully in school
that person who refused to leave you
alone no matter what you did well if you
didn't don't feel left out because now
everyone in America gets to share one If
you've been alive lately then you've
seen how this president and his
administration have been attempting to
intimidate various institutions around
the country And today was no different
This morning Trump's attorney general
Pam Bondi held a press conference at the
Justice Department to let the governor
of Maine know that due to her continued
refusal to ban trans athletes from
sports in her state the bullying by the
federal government just wasn't going to
stop They are withholding federal funds
and taking them to court And Bondie felt
just terrible about it We have exhausted
every other remedy We tried to get Maine
to comply We don't like standing up here
and filing lawsuits That can't be true I
have a feeling somewhere there's a
Tinder app that lists filing lawsuits as
one of your top likes And by the way
dislikes include having to properly
follow America's deportation laws and
also guys who admit they made a mistake
But bravo to Maine's Governor Mills This
is an example of the tough fights that
need to be waged in this country against
a relentless bully Oh and just a quick
aside about said bully This entire
battle by Trump and everybody in his
orbit crying about how we need
legitimacy in our sports would be a lot
easier to take seriously if his son
wasn't funding something called the
enhanced games an Olympic disruptor that
would allow some steroids in sports Take
a peek today Donald Trump Jr Chris
Buskerk and Omid Malik's 1789 capital
join other leading investors in funding
the enhanced games a new Olympics for a
new golden age That's right the enhanced
games courtesy of the guys who are
definitely totally against anyone
gaining an unfair advantage in sports
Got it But sadly the governor of Maine
is the outlier when it comes to standing
up to America's bully Take law firms
Recently Trump has targeted some of the
biggest law firms in the country all of
which have been directly tied to cases
that not surprisingly have targeted
Trump in the past And in case you're
wondering this is not normal How unusual
is it for the president to go after a
private entity through an executive
order yeah it's to we it's totally
unprecedented It's totally weird People
are people don't know what to do I'll
give you weird and unprecedented but
I've got to stop you at People don't
know what to do because I think the
answer is follow the governor of Maine
and take a stand But sadly a lot of them
didn't Nine firms have agreed to do
deals totaling a billion dollars of
proono legal work which will task them
with working for Doge or helping do the
bidding of Trump's Justice Department Do
you see what happens when you cave you
keep your money and you lose your soul
And how about universities since Trump
took office his administration has
bullied colleges with the threat of
pulling their federal funding all under
the guise that he's rooting out
anti-semitism on campus And while
Harvard recently had the guts to stand
up to him Columbia University was very
different Columbia University will give
in to demands from the Trump
administration in order to restore
hundreds of millions of dollars in
federal funding It appears that in some
way shape or form Colombia has agreed to
pretty much all of the president's
demands including banning maskearing a
new definition of anti-semitism and
reforms to the emissions process and as
well putting the Middle Eastern Studies
Department under so-called academic
receiverhip Yeah you know the saying
first they came for the Jews then they
came for the masks Colombia has an
endowment in the billions of dollars and
still they bent over hoping that maybe
they just give this guy their lunch
money and he would leave them alone But
that is not how this works Just ask the
media ABC News another company with
billions in their pockets recently
settled the case with Trump because
standing up was going to be too much of
a hassle ABC's avoiding going any
further by settling They're paying out
$15 million plus a million in attorneys
fees Uh they say this is going to go to
a nonprofit basically to Trump's future
library That's the idea Yeah And I'm
guessing every Trump Library visitor
will have the opportunity to pee on a
urinal cake featuring ABC's logo
Intimidating the media is
authoritarianism 101 Take CBS Currently
Trump is suing CBS for $10 billion a
doctor evil amount of money because of
what he claims is some shady editing
from a 60 Minutes piece from before the
election Now at the same time that that
lawsuit is going on Paramount Global
which owns CBS News is currently trying
to merge with Sky Dance Media And in
order to do that Paramount will need the
approval of the Trump administration
Specifically the FCC which under its new
commissioner Brandon Carr has suggested
that Donald Trump's complaint will be
considered by the FCC before any merger
can be approved Well you know what all
they need is someone tough to stand up
to this level of intimidation Enter Sher
Redstone the owner of Paramount who
stands to make about $8 billion if this
deal goes through said one CBS News
employee to me about this Quote
"Everyone expects Sherry settles with
Donald Trump." "Everyone expects
Redstone to settle and yet Trump is
still not taking his foot off their
neck." He called CBS quote "out of
control and he suggested they pay a big
price." Quote "They should lose their
license." He said hopefully the federal
chairman Brendan Carr will impose the
maximum fines and punishment which is
substantial for their unlawful and
illegal behavior Bullies do not back off
unless people stand up to them And it
doesn't always take a billion-dollar
company Sometimes you just need a
backbone President-elect Donald Trump
has sued the De Moine Register over a
pre-election poll that had him trailing
Vice President Kla Harris in Iowa The
lawsuit accuses the outlet and pollster
Anne Selzer of election interference
Trump ultimately won Iowa by 13 points A
spokesperson for the De Mo Register said
quote "We have acknowledged that the
poll did not reflect the ultimate margin
of President Trump's election day
victory We stand by our reporting on the
matter and believe this lawsuit is
without merit." So the De Moines
Register the news outlet whose city's
biggest export seems to be spikes in
politicians cholesterol has the balls to
fight back And if you think Trump's
tactics are reserved for states law
firms universities and corporations he
doesn't like well today an American
citizen found out that he can get
bullied too A real estate attorney an
American citizen returning from Canada
says that he was detained without
explanation After nearly five hours
Atala says he and his wife are released
They are now pursuing legal action I
really thought things would change after
this administration when we had Mr Trump
in office Things would change to the
better Things actually changed to the
worst And look I don't want to be
presumptuous about who someone voted for
But if Basher thought that things were
going to get better under Trump I'd
wager to guess that he didn't vote for
the other candidate And I bring that up
only to reinforce the notion that no one
is safe when it comes to Trump's
policies I mean for God's sake ICE
agents recently tried to make their way
into elementary schools in Los Angeles
and the only reason they weren't
successful is because administrators
wouldn't let them in So the principles
of elementary schools apparently have
greater principles than some billion
dollar law firms Look when I think about
the message that I would love to send to
these law firms and universities and
media companies with billions of dollars
in their pockets who are capitulating to
our bully president I honestly find
myself of two minds One message is and I
hate to get all pollyana here but the
idea of pursuing justice equally or
promoting diversity of thought in our
universities or holding our leaders
accountable to the truth is what America
is really all about But the other
message is how do I say this that's what
the money is for exactly.
