I think I have that 40^+ that represent his fan club figured out. They're just a bunch of miserable people who enjoy having a rich asshole's permission to be assholes, themselves.

Even they seem to be slowly coming around to the fact that there are better rich assholes out there, that they're going to get hurt along with the rest of us and maybe worse than most of us as the orange wrecking ball tears through this country.

but only for the assholes who want to be given permission to act on that bigotry, like calling a black elder statesman "boy" on camera and microphone in Congress.

My dad was a bigot. However, I hever saw him be rude, dismissive, or patronizing to any POC. That's the difference right there, people can hold some pretty rancid opinions but if they don't act on them, they're not assholes. That Fat Grifter (that is what you meant by TFG, right?) just gave a whole bunch of people on the edge permission to slide into being active assholes and they like it.

Some of them will figure it out as they lose their jobs and houses and slip into hopelessness.
