I have no doubt that Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and even Donald Trump believe that the show was cancelled to appease Trump, but if that were actually true the show would have been pulled and no longer aired. Instead it will be on for another ten months, which is when Colbert's contract expires. In the meantime Colbert can make Trump's life miserable, with no roadblocks. The fact of the matter is that late night TV is in audience decline. Seth Myers just returned from a TWO WEEK vacation (he seems to have a lot of those) and he only has 4 new episodes a week. Conan O'Brien's show went from one hour to a half hour before being cancelled last year. Things change, usually for economic reasons, not political reasons.

Trump has his sights set on Kimmel as well, who nightly offends the Narcissist-in-Chief.

(After all, Trump only RAN for president because Obama offended him with jokes at the Press Dinner when Obama was in office. He NEVER FORGETS being the butt of any joke.)

His pride is a verrrrrry thin membrane that is easily torn by any sharp wit.
