(9,090 posts)at the time they were talking about sending him to Liberia - but where they talk about sending him seems to depend on maybe the day of the week, or how painful the Apricot Antichrist's ankles are, or something equally irrelevant. It's so obvious that this regime is taking out their fury on him because they think he made them look stupid, when it was their own behavior which made them look stupid, because they are. I think they may also be trying to get a rise out of Senator Van Hollen for the same reason. What I'm leading up to is, I really hope we get the poor lad back, but I also hope he's prepared to face the kind of harassment Abrego Garcia is facing.
(Abrego Garcia has agreed to be deported to Costa Rica, which has offered him citizenship if they do, so of course that is the only place in the world they are NOT talking about deporting him to.)

(245,933 posts)I really hope that the judge's ruling holds and he can simply be returned to his family. But I sure agree with you, they obviously went against the judge's decision by not allowing the plane(s) to take off or turning them around. And they're obsessively taking it out on this one guy who continues to make the news so they're determined to get rid of him for good, as if deporting him yet again wouldn't make the news yet again. And I can't help wondering about the other guys on that original plane, are they still in that horrific El Salvador prison??

(9,090 posts)At 80 my memory is not what it used to be - although it once was really good and included sources - nowadays the sources are mostly gone. I do think I remember a few others coming back with Abrego Garcia, but I'm not certain about even that. Anyway, most of them are almost certainly still there. (And I doubt if there's a criminal history for any of them.)
If you're feeling down - and these days who isn't - and you are a member of a PBS station (or if you aren't but can join), Great Performances is streaming "Ann" just now - the one-woman show about the former Governor of Texas (and mother of Cecile, who ran Planned Parenthood for so long), Ann Richards - quips, generosity, kindness, attitude, frustration, and all. I watched it Monday night. It helped me to remember what is possible in government when good and competent people are in charge, even if they are smart-alecky at times.

(245,933 posts)I've also been sick all week, not sure if it's allergies or a bad cold, but I haven't had much energy. However, I thank you so much for the recommendation, who among us isn't shocked and depressed every day right now?

I used to watch PBS with my parents all the time and my mother was a member, she had quite a collection of the memorabilia that they sent her. And I did love the shows, we used to watch Masterpiece Theatre on Sundays and I especially enjoyed the historical ones.
