Now, it's about to hit. In states like Minnesota, the lines are around the block of people finally getting theirs. It would be funny if it weren't so sad.

For many people, having a passport is an exotic sort of thing. For many others, this is the first time they've heard of Real ID. For many more, they still haven't heard about it, and won't until they try to fly to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving. Many people do not read any news publication, watch any news on TV, or listen to any news on the radio. Life is always a mystery for them.

And then there's me, and others like me, who have had a passport for decades and a Real ID since the first license renewal when it was available. Why wouldn't you?
