because I grew up moving around all over the eastern halt of the country, including the south and midwest. I know how widespread blinkered, pig iignorance has always been, especially in those regions. I can't call them stupid because they're not. They are being fed a rotten bill of goods, mostly by religious figures and now by propagandists taking their cues if not their paychecks from Russia.
I still think many can be reached but the Democratic Party leadership has long been too timid to do what is necessary to accomlish this. I think the time is absolutely right to start thinking of a campaign based on "we have two Americas," because the people I know on both sides who are low information types already know that one in their guts. Oh, GOP propaganda apparatchiks will call us Communists, but they always do anyway.
There are passionate people out there, AOC cmes to mind, who are not afraid to address this. The stodgy old fars of any age need to listen to them if they want to win anything, ever.
I mea, think about it, commercials featuring views of the insides of private jets and the airports the wealthy use juxtaposed with people crammed into uncomfortable chairs and cattle class in airlines, VIP areas of hospitals (Mass General featured Oriental rugs and fireplaces when I was there) juxtaposed with a county hospital waiting room, and the list goes on. A nasty voice over asking why everything we the people need to use is underfunded, shabby, and overcrowded would seal the deal.
Unfairness has always triggered both liberals and conservatives. I would love to see our party get smart about it. Our fellow citizens aren't stupid. They are mostly just uninformed. It's time to inform them.
