Should Democrats defend Eloon if trump tries to violate his rights? [View all]

I don't know which Dem politician said it, but he said although he detests what Eloon has done, if trump uses his presidential power to violate Eloon's rights, that he would defend Eloon's rights. Not sure what he meant by that. I think he may have been alluding to trump mentioning canceling Eloon's contracts.
I am not in favor of Dems going to bat for the person trying to destroy us.
It sounds good in theory, defending the rights of everyone but - how do you protect the arsonist that set fire to your house?
Sometimes some people get what is coming to them and I am OK with that.
What say you?
