12. Vance is an opportunist. A never-Trumper when he thought Trump would lose to Hillary

and after she won he could make a play at becoming a leader in the GOP. But then she lost.
So plan B: become a Trumper. Then get lucky and become his running mate. With Trump, maybe it's a case of keeping your enemies closer. But when Trump was asked if he wanted Vance to be his successor, his answer was a simple "no". Hmmm. A regular person might take that in a negative way and be pissed about it. Perhaps Vance is and is just bidding his time. Trump might want to think about that.
