he thinks nobody sees/notices all of his life history of lies, crimes, and sordidities. He thinks that he gets away with everything, that when things are over they're gone. He didn't realize that the fishbowl means every big and little thing will be scrutinized to death. In my Boomer adolescence, reading the slew of books about HITLER was de rigueur, fascinating, and massive availability. KRASNOV will have a massive library of his crappy life.
