There's been a low level war going on around the Arabian Peninsula, and our troops have already been involved.
BTW, the Saudis had a lot of say as to whether or not this was going to go down. There's not just the Israeli/Iranian proxy situation, there is also a Sunni/Shia situation going on. The Saudis hate the Iranians.
First thing that will happen is that the Gulf of Hormuz will be shut down.
Then the Saudis will expect their good friends, the US, to open it up for them. Pretty sure they're planning on going in afterwards and buying up as much of Iran's resources and turn the country into Wahabist as soon as they can.
