9. "What if we lose" is the threshold that anyone faces.

This Friday, July 4th, is a reminder that the day we now celebrate was a point of no return for the people who signed the Declaration, the people who dumped the tea, the people who watched the comings and goings of British troops and ships and passed that info on in secret -- all knowing that they were risking everything for an unknown future.

Aoso, I disagree with your characterization of Republicans as "political opposition." They left that civilized arrangement years ago.
