1. According to KFF, 78.6 million people are enrolled in Medicaid.

“In the 49 states and DC with complete enrollment data by age, there are 36.5 million children (48%) and 40.2 million adults (52%) enrolled, a change from pre-pandemic (February 2020) enrollment patterns when children made up a slight majority (51%) of Medicaid/CHIP enrollees (Figure 1).” (From KFF site)

Of the 40.2 million adults, two-thirds already have jobs, leaving roughly 13.2 million people not working. But another 20%, about 8 million, are disabled and cannot work so now we’re down to about 5 million. That’s mostly women who are caring for children, the disabled, and elderly relatives or students. Few of them can replace migrant workers. According to Pew Research, about 8.3 million undocumented immigrants are in the workforce (from 2022 data). How are we to replace that number with Medicaid recipients? Republicans need some math lessons.
