…for being the first Black man in the Harvard Law Review..The book he wrote (Dreams From My Father) was a bestseller and wowed the people who read it. So we already had a good look at his intelligence and potential. Dem Party made him keynote speaker at the DNC which is what they do on purpose to point up a rising star. His state elected him their US Senator which also put him on the map.

Many if not most who decide to run for president have fewer things to qualify them — Obama was genuinely brilliant as it happens

Gov Newsom is the gov of the largest US State. That state has the 4th largest economy in the world and is very diverse He’s an experienced politician with many crises under his belt including a pandemic

I don’t know what more you want for quals
