LA Times among registered voters, when asked if they agree with California's redistricting maneuver, 46% said it was a good idea, while 36% said it was a bad idea. Slightly more, 48%, said they would vote in favor of the temporary gerrymandering efforts if it appeared on the statewide special election ballot i in November. Nearly a third said they would vote no, while 20% said they were undecided.
The new maps would be in place for the 2026, 2028 and 2030 congressional elections.
and while the numbers favor redistricting now according to this poll, that undecided vote will be critical, and no one should take it for granted, especially since republican mega donors are pouring millions to defeat it.
Unbelievably among those undecided voters, 1 in 5 polled said they were undecided, and among those who register with no party preference, 25% say they are undecided.
As an aside, Newsom's approval ratings on performance have improved significantly since this started with 51% generally approve his handling of the job as governor, while 43% disapprove.
