In reply to the discussion: Bill Maher's New Rules hurt but important [View all]Feel Good Inc
(25 posts)15. Then Democrats have to find a better response to the Trump offerings.
Look at Nevada. Maher mentions they voted for Trump because no tax on tips! Except the no tax on tips is a mess of rules on what qualifies that also doesn't really change The Now because these people weren't directly paying taxes on tips and instead only doing it when they filed their taxes, assuming they even counted tips.
But Trump has been devastating for Nevada. No one can afford to travel, international travel to the US has tanked and the state's economy, which is based on tourism has floundered. Now those same people relying on tips are getting less tips overall because there's less people tipping.

+1. Maher is right that voters preferred trump to what we were offering. Until we accept that, we'll keep losing.

Pretty much agree. However, too many GOPers vote by mail for trump to pull that off. And let's say he does, if

"No tax on tips" is easier to sell than trying to explain unintended consequences. Plus, VP Harris jumped on it too,

Democrats did little to explain it. In fact, Harris also supported no tax on tips.

Trump is still offering everything he did before the election and yet he is already back to being hated.
