8. I really don't think it's a matter of stupidity any more.

It's evil. Republicans aren't *all* stupid, and they aren't completely stupid about everything.

When Donnie and his gang of crooks lie, they aren't hoping the Republican rank and file will fall for it. They're basically ordering the rank and file to parrot the party line. They've turned the whole thing into a game, and the rules of the game for republicans are thou shalt not evaluate the validity or truthfulness of Donnie decrees, thou simply parrot and support whatever he says.

It's not stupidity in the sense that they've all been trained to let Donnie bypass whatever cognitive skills they possess.

I've tried all my life to "never ascribe to malice what can adequately be assigned to stupidity," but sometimes "stupid" just doesn't adequately explain what's going on.
