I have had this conversation with my hubby many times....He says, if they do such and such it will be playing into their hands. I say if they don't do such and such it will be playing into their hands. We are always both correct....because there isn't a single action that they won't spin around to favor themselves.

Therefore, I think we should always take action strictly on what is considered the best option and not even consider the optics and/or perceptions.
