When nothing is heard from them, all their backup will find is their unmasked remains on a street where nobody saw anything, and all the guns owned by the locals will be found to be unlinkable by ballistics tests to any bullets found at the scene, the locals having long been aware that they are “targets.” Posters glorifying “De-icing” will show up everywhere around the country, and excesses committed up to now will seem trivial by comparison.

Since such a scenario would provide Trump, Bondi and Noem with exactly the pretext they need to declare martial law, it wouldn’t surprise me to hear that they had some of their own people shot (collateral damage, dontcha know), since the resistance has been too slow for their liking in reacting violently to their sanctioned brutality. “Goddam pacifists, why don’t they shoot back when we want them to?”
