Every time a drone is close to a border, and the radars are locked in, the Russians gain intelligence. That’s a chief reason why they do it. They are identifying gaps.

The intelligence given from actual retaliation could be much higher than the moral feelings of having shot down a low value drone. God forbid the EU unsuccessfully try’s downing drones, and weaken their own country’s security concerns. Just a counter point to consider.
