up or down stairs without holding the railing. Ever. I slipped and fell down my basement stairs 25 years ago and, though fortunate, I didn’t break anything, was in terrible pain for weeks.

I hold the railing even to walk down my 4 steps from my deck to the patio.

Last year I tripped going up the one step from my laundry room to the kitchen (slipper caught on lip on step) and landed on my knees, one which I had torn my meniscus the previous year when I slipped due to a wee bit water from dogs bowl, on my laundry room floor.

I’ve also tripped on uneven sidewalks but fortunately caught my balance before doing a face plant. I hate doing it, but now when walking on sidewalks I look down.
