24. "Boys" is just a colloquial term used by hockey players when talking about themselves.

Yesterday

Listening to mic'd up players during games, you'll hear it quite often as in "C'mon, boys, let's go!" or other phrases encouraging better play.

Yes, these are adult men. Whether men or boys, nothing excuses the bad behaviour.
