In reply to the discussion: Susan Sarandon Says She Was Banned From Hollywood After Calling for Gaza Ceasefire: I Feel 'Repression and Censorship' [View all]MIButterfly
(2,490 posts)10. She used to be my favorite actress.
I saw her for the first time in the early 80s in a television play with Christopher Walken called "Who am I This Time?" based on a short story by Kurt Konnegut. She really stood out and I thought "who is she?" and was a fan after that. Now, not so much. I know she has every right to express her opinion, but unfortunately her words caused a great deal of damage, in my opinion.
And I hate to say it, but Hollywood is not kind to older actresses. There are probably a lot of older actresses who find it difficult to find work after the age of 40, regardless of their political views.

I admired her as an actress, but as a human being, I have no respect for her at all.

Sarandon wasn't ostracized for her views on Gaza, she became a pariah when she supported Stein over Clinton in 2016.

"We'd be at war" if Hillary won, fracking and pipelines were another of her top reasons not to support Democrats.
