and emotional disorders, 'getting away with it' is addictive...wrt lying, grabbing women, cheating on taxes, conning consumers of his tawdry products, stiffing contractors, blackmailing Ukraine...it fills one of the hollow spots in his soul and he feels stronger.

I have yet to see where the line is drawn for his base supporters which would lose some votes
